05Narrative

Akkure was founded in 2019 by Prof Oran Rigby after close relatives were diagnosed with inheritable, progressive chronic disease. Its thesis: precision medicine breakthroughs depend on access to large, condition-specific DNA datasets that today's commercial gene-sequencing and ancestry businesses extract from patients without true consent or ownership. Akkure inverts that — patients own the data and decide which researchers or pharmaceutical sponsors can access it, governed by dynamic smart contracts.

The Find Akkure project, launched in partnership with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and FutureNeuro, invites patients with the same disease — initially MS, motor neurone disease, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, epilepsy and cancers — to be 'genetically twinned'. Akkure subsidises the first 100 patients per condition, reducing the cost of a medical digital twin from €400 to €100.

The platform fuses genomic data with electronic health records and wearable-derived 'physiosome' vital signs, then powers the Quantum Consult™ tele-trials engine. The result is the world's first AI-powered, blockchain-enabled clinical trials platform — targeting an industry worth over USD 90 billion. Storage is on Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform; permissions are governed by patient-controlled blockchain smart contracts.
